Our Social Responsibility
At Recovery First, we believe that all businesses have a responsibility to improve the wider community. We believe that all young people should have the opportunity to participate in the sports they love, regardless of their background. Physical activity and participation in sports provides a multitude of physical and mental health benefits for young people; which is why Recovery First decided to invest in youth athletes as role models for all, as well as facilities for children and adults local to our head office to give the cycling discipline of trials a go.
Youth Athlete Sponsorships – British Cycling
Recovery First have been involved in youth athlete programmes over the past number of years.
We have been supporting British Cycling Youth Athletes in the niche discipline of trials.
We love supporting British riders, and to date, we have supported coaching and facilities for kids competing at international level. In 2020, we supported the GB Youth Team by providing funding for coaching in Spain in preparation for the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) World Youth Games. Regrettably, the World Youth Games were cancelled as a result of Covid and we therefore hope to do something similar in 2021.
We also provide training that focuses on core bike handling skills and confidence on a bike for young cyclists at our Head Office in Scotland. Given the increase in participation over the lockdown period, we hope to extend this to adults.
Coaching in Spain
As part of our youth sponsorship programme, we provided funding for young cyclists to travel to Spain for coaching.
Nine youths with three British Coaches travelled to Spain for a 4 Day Training Camp. The photo also features Head Coach, Eloi Palau (former UCI Junior World Champion.
Future Plans
We have plans in place to support a local cycling club, and as part of that, we would love to build a Pump Track for all riders in the coming years.
Brain Injury Group
We are also supporters of Brain Injury Group and the work they do to assist those who have suffered life changing brain injuries to find the specialist legal and welfare benefits support needed to help rebuild their lives. We regularly play at and sponsor their annual charity golf day, raising much needed funds for charities who support children and adults with brain injuries, as well as participating in their Road Safety Week campaign, working with local schools to raise awareness of road safety.
